1981-2008 Alaska Press Club (APC), Board Member 1991-1993 / National Press Photographer's Association (NPPA). The NPPA is the national
organization for photojournalists, consisting of over 10,000 members.
1982 - Present Member & Associate Director (board member) NPPA Region 11 (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, British Columbia) 1998-2000
1990 President of the Board, Ageless Music Works, a non-profit organization that produced children’s music, benefiting local agencies
involved in child abuse prevention.
AWARDS
1981 - 2008 Winner of numerous awards in the annual Alaska Press Club and regional Society of Professional Journalists competitions.
1988 Winner of the Joseph Costa Award presented by Ball State University for the best courtroom photograph taken in the nation.
1989 Member of the Anchorage Daily News' team effort that won the 1989 Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service with "A People in Peril",
a series of stories dealing with alcoholism and self-destructive behavior of Alaskan Natives. It also highlighted success stories of those imperiled.
2002 Second Place, World Press Photo / Nature & Environment category for “Northern pike swallows rainbow trout”
